Have you noticed that no matter what you eat, the weight keeps increasing because of the type of foods you consume? Unfortunately, it happens to most of us as we age. I can relate to that. Several years ago, I got up one morning and realized a pair of pants I loved couldn't pass my thighs.
At that time, I was about 210lbs, wearing size 18—my mama's size (who knew). I was out of shape and out of breath. It wasn't food per se that did it. It was pastry. I love pastries. I took matters into my own hands. I hate needles, pills, and going under the knife. No, honey, not for me. I like things very natural.
Before
For those of you who don't know me, I'm passionate about spreading awareness of eating healthy and caring for the skin. Your skin's health, or lack of it, is directly related to what you are eating. It is your largest organ.
Within this time of being fluffy, I was misdiagnosed with diabetes and was obese. For my health and overall well-being, I continued to ask questions and advocate for myself until I received an accurate diagnosis. I did my research and got second and third opinions. I researched eating healthy, dug into books, attended school, and became a nutritionist. You are the expert of your own body, and sometimes, an accurate diagnosis takes time, but be patient and don't give up hope! Pay attention to your body.
I gave up meat, dairy, rice, eggs, and anything that was unhealthy for my body. I became a VEGAN. Veganism is defined as a way of living that excludes all forms of animal exploitation. It was tough at first, but I kept going, and now my weight is stable for the most part. Drinking lots of water is part of eating healthy. I drink almost a gallon of water per day.

When you give up a particular type of food your body is used to, you must replace it with something healthy. Regarding eating healthy, the plant-based green team is the best choice. There are so many plant-based foods to choose from.
Here's where things get interesting. My calorie intake has dropped tremendously, as well as carbs. I used to have terrible headaches and not enough energy. During my research, I also discovered that diets can cause a similar reduction in subcutaneous fat, which is the fancy name for the fat that hides right underneath your skin and that you can pinch with your fingers.
I have helped people with their wellness and incorporating healthy habits that will contribute to their health and nutrition goals with my simple regimen. I saw their success while some others fell off the wagon. I educate and guide them through their desired journey. But, you must provide your own discipline. Coaching only takes you to success if you really want it.
This is a serious step that you are about to embark on. Some people are yo-yo dieters. Sounds familiar; "I want to lose weight for bikini season." Or "I want to wear a size 4 dress to an upcoming event". You work hard to lose weight, only to find that it creeps back on with extra pounds.
Before starting or changing your diet, I suggest you consult your doctor. Talk with your doctor before you begin a weight loss effort. You can modify the program to consider your medical history and known health issues. Think of your primary care physician as your "health police' the one you should go to first for any health goals or worries. Your doctor can also advise you to see a nutritionist.
The next time you're about to eat an unhealthy meal, think of the consequences that meal will have on your arteries and overall health. If you need help with this, join my community.
